B is 4 Bas***d Pt B

Lets just go over the definition of Bastard again:

1 insulting terms of address for people who are stupid or irritating or ridiculous
2 the illegitimate offspring of unmarried parents
3 bogus: fraudulent; having a misleading appearance
4 derogatory term for a variation that is not genuine; something irregular or inferior or of dubious origin

well it seems I have missed the two biggest B’s of the moment Brand and Woss.

I have to admit that the Daily Mail is bought into my home every day, including the Mail on Sunday, and that it very rare I read the front. Usually I start on the back page and head inland until the sport ends. The Mail and news are so far apart they are the blind mans Sun, without the boobs. Well physical ones anyway. Just looking at some of their columnists is enough to convince you they are full of Tits. But this one really caught my eye. I blame the wife for throwing it at me like a boomerang, the corner nearly ripping the eye out of its sockets. And there covered in splattering of blood and eye, was this story of the two HE-MEN of the BBC ( another B ) and one already in my bad books from the last post, thinking it funny to leave a kindly, gentlemanly, inoffensive old man, age 78,( the Newspapers description and not mine ) who I believe was to be a guest on the show but couldn’t make it, so they decided oh what fun it would be to have a laugh at his expense.

Now I don’t care if it's a man of 78, a lad of 18, a woman of 36 or like me a senile old Bugger of 52, but in any ones language that is not the action of two grown men. I could accept, with a slap of the leg, and confiscation of their favourite toy, that this could have been the action of a 7 year old and his younger mate, but two supposedly grown up men, one with daughters of his own. ( see definition 1 above )

so hot of the press tonight we hear that they had been suspended, not by the neck, but from work, i would guess on full pay, a fantastic amount of publicity, and a week off to enjoy the weather. then Mr Brand decides to resign, well whoopee. so instead of facing up to the consequences of his actions, the harrasment of a fellow human being, he runs a way, a real HE-MAN.

Now, what I am wondering, and i have no problem in pushing the boundaries of comedy to new places, ( but I am sure that Monty Python never resorted to these tactics to get a cheap laugh), nor do i advocate the censorship of free speech But what really gets my goat, and where does that expression come from? As I was saying, what really gets my goat, is that if you or me did that the old guy up the road, we’d be arrested, more than likely prosecuted for threatening behaviour or at least Bullying Probably fined, or even depending on how threatening / disgusting the message was, spend a few days / weeks with the compliments of HRH.
but like politicians they gang together, so they will probably get away with it.

what Brand will get is a bigger contract at another station, Mr BBC ( or Jonafawn Woss ) will now stop his torrent of mild porography on the TV for a few weeks then get a bigger contract out of it.( i can use more swear words than you and do it on liveTV because the rules of decency and good taste stops when the music starts on my program. and because i can shuld louder than you i can get away with it ) class act mate

therefore in my humble opinion, they should be reported to the police, as it is Bullying. we hear everyday of young children who are Bullied at school and resort to the ultimate release, and here we have two overpaid, egotitical people who revelled in bullying that man. or will the BBC (Bullying By Clowns ) do the ultimate B and Bottle it

Get My Goat, point of history here, some say its an old American expression from the early 20th century, some say it derives from Northern Country folk who believe goats have a calming effect on milking cows and racing horses, so if you wanted to disrupt your neighbours cows or annoy a horse before a race you would steal the goat from the barn / stable. See who said I couldn’t educate as well

B is also for Band Wagon, British, Build em Up, Blow em down...
If there is nothing the British public like better it's to raise someone up on a pedestal then knock them right off. The irony here of course is this is being done in the name of civility.

Blind leading the Blind
Has anyone actually heard the audio or read the transcript? For the brazen hysteria you'd think it was a tirade of c*nts, threats and pornographic descriptions to put an erotic novelist to shame. In reality there were hardly any expletives (one f*ck) and the regular quirky dialogue that Brand is known for and he played to backtrack on the original message. Oh they did mention "Satanic Sluts" but then that is the name of this innocent little flower's burlesque group she dances in (although she's trying hard to distance herself now she no longer needs a shock factor to garner publicity - Read the link), when she's not being a dominatrix or staring in pornography that is.

Bad taste?
Perhaps, this is however no worse than the effort of many other DJs out there who do "entertainment" segments on their shows. Where is the public uproar when someone is made to look an idiot on the radio to get ratings? It's funny that we live in a nation intent of knowing who is f*cking who behind who's back, happily print it in the press and yet pick this one example to take the high moral ground. Where were the complaints when Max Mosley had his privacy torn away from him? Would anyone have given a shit about Sachs if the Mail or Sun were publishing a "tells all" story from this dozy bint about Brand's tiny winkle? I doubt it but why? Oh yeah I know why.

Bank! Ross and Brand get paid a lot, and out of THE license fee no less. The outrage! That seems to be the biggest motivation to single out these two people over everyone else. Finally the public get a chance to put the Boot after the many many stories concerning their high wages. How morally hypocritical that is.

Comedy should always walk the line between acceptability and taboo. Much like a Burlesque group walks the line between dancing and stripping or being a dominatrix walk the line between performance and prostitution. This whole facade of outrage is a manipulation of the public to sell papers. It wouldn't have worked for some unknown DJ but Ross and Brand's biggest mistake was to not realise that on a slow news day they're prime targets for selling some extra papers. Now ask where the problem is with that.

Hey Jelster,
you made some good points as usual, and I have no problem with anyone pushing the boundaries and walking the line between acceptability and taboo, but surely the main purpose is to be funny.
I had not read the actual transcript, just the version on a few web sites and in the papers, and I thank you for the link which I read a number of times.
As mentioned before I do not know that much about Brand. And from things written since, I have no desire to either. But there must be no one alive who does know, or hasn't heard of Ross, who in some circles, may be seen a role model, an icon to be copied and admired. But what they did was not funny.
Irrespective of what Georgina does for a living, be it a dancer or a whore, she has the right to keep her life private if she has not done anything wrong. What has happened now is she is on the front of the News of the Screws. Now whether Sachs was aware of her previous occupation or not is now mute, because it’s now apparent that the whole world does. And no doubt over the next few weeks she will have her name dragged more through the muck than either Brand or Ross will. Have they starred in a porno? Have they showed off their body for money? I think not, and I thank my lucky starts no one has any of those. Now that would be pornographic.
So before I condemned them I asked myself these questions
1 What right does he has to say that about her?
2 What has she got to do with a message being left for Andrew Sachs?
3 Why did they think it was funny to make fun of a character he has not played in over twenty years?
4 What type of person then says he wants to marry your granddaughter, and that he was thinking of killing himself?
And I could not think of a single reason why any sane person would do it, and he even proved he cannot be trusted. Did he actually do as he promised in the call? No. He is still alive and kicking and thinking of the next poor soul to insult
But a program does not have to be full of swear words to be pornographic, nor does a program full of swear words have to be pornographic. It’s all about the content. How it was said, and in what context it was said.
And I am not sure it’s all about jealousy, I am not jealous of Brand nor Ross, and will own up to not finding Ross funny, in fact I find him the total opposite of funny, and I also have to admit that if it was not for the Sun / Mail I would not have any opinions on it as I did not hear it live as I would not be listening to anything they have to say. But it was in the paper and therefore was pushed into the public domain
My biggest gripe about the whole situation is that these two people thought it was funny to send an old person a message about his granddaughter. Then went back and said more. What would i feel like if that was left about my daughter? I know what I’d want to do, and that’s kick the f'ck out of them. The same amount of times they left messages for me.
The career path his daughter has opted for is her business. It’s not something with which to insult another human being. Whether he approves of her job has nothing to do with me, not them, nor anyone else, but to have these things said about member of his family, to have that them made available for the world to re hear was not right. In my opinion they got what they deserved, I am not sure Andrew Sachs did deserve what he got, and I am sure his daughter over the next few weeks get more than she deserves.
We live in a society which can be seen as build them up and knock them down. But we also produce a type of celebrity who thinks the rules of normal decency, does not apply to them; they are above the Law, rule book and Mr. Average.
I think the BBC (Bringing Back Control) has at last earned its money. Money supplied by Mr. Average.

There is always a matter of opinion of whether something is in good taste or not. Comedy especially is prone to some very wide interpretations. Ultimately we can't really argue whether you "should" find some humour in comedy, so what is my problem with this particular topic?

Witch hunt, lynch mob, cowboy posse? It's really that this is very much an artificially manufactured situation. I mean you mention you'd be put in prison if you did something like this, yet where do victims get several national papers, TV and MPs defending them? People are raped every day and this is what we're upset about?!?!

I don't criticise a reaction but I condemn the overreaction. Isn't anyone embarrassed that this is still going on weeks later? That people are still losing their jobs over a few words?

End of the day, the grand daughter has a shady history which she's scrambled to hide. She's the most to gain from this which is why she's dragging out those 15 minutes. But my question is, if the papers were given that shady history would they have stopped for one second to link her to Sachs? We know that the answer to that is a big NO.

B is for B3ta, awesome lulz.

Back on topic. Here's clearly the b3st of the Daily Mail's coverage US election coverage. Prepare outrage!

does it matter if the daughter has a shady history. does she have the platform on which she can defend herself, did he grandfather have the same. no. but it was nice to see on Harry's Burp a small piece about this.

bloody hell, and i use the word bloody reservedly. does Max Hastings know about this
should we be MAILing ( double entendre there, we just keep getting better )the white house, or not so Whitehouse as the MAIL may have us believe, or is that racist, or is there a name change in the air, Blackhouse does not sound the same, but at least i don't think there is a porn mag with that name. I did mail the Whitehouse twice and was shocked at what i got back. prefered the Suns version, they just had a pair of t*ts on the front. Gordon Brown and Tony Blair

A platform for defense, the Daily Mail is doing this to sell papers and nothing else. A simple apology could have sufficed but instead this is now a national scandal compounding any ridicule Sachs was subjected to by Brand and Ross.

The Daily Mail (and other tabloids) have purposely made this molehill into a mountain for their own gain. Saying this is obscene and criminal when they know that is far from the truth does their moral crusade no favours in my book.

As for the grand daughter, I think hiring Max Clifford says a lot more about her motivations than any statements concerning her grandfather.
